Allen and Madeline Bills, husband and wife town criers, will be
conducting an ancient ale ceremony at Café Bar One Nine in Keynsham.
Allen and Madeline will walk Keynsham High Street at 3pm wearing
traditional outfits, in full cry to announce the ceremony. They will then perform the
ancient ale ceremony at Café Bar One Nine at 3.15pm.
Continental-style café-bar and restaurant BAR ONE NINE on
Keynsham's High Street opened in December 2003. The bar is owned by Alison and Richard
Smith who gave up high-flying city jobs to go into business together.
Both members of CAMRA they were keen to introduce a well-kept real ale.
"It is not typically a product that you would expect to see in a café-bar, but our
real ale sits happily next to our Chablis, Chardonnay, caffe lattes and cappuccinos!"
said owner Richard Smith.
"The bar has been an enormous success, its been hard work - but
worth it" said Alison Smith. "We're looking to expand our business with one or
two more venues over the coming year".
The Smiths have transformed a failing boozer into a warm and welcoming
café-bar and restaurant.
